Room Disinfection System

Room Disinfection System

At Finsen Technologies, we have developed a proven room disinfection system that is helping health care providers in the fight against Healthcare Acquired Infections (HAI).

The cost of HAIs is staggering - in the UK alone they are estimated to cost the NHS £1bn a year and claim 30,000 lives.

Our system for room disinfection, the THOR UVC, has been shown to kill 99.9999% of bacteria in a matter of minutes.

It can work in any room or enclosed space and so can effectively disinfect an entire fleet of ambulances as well as operating theatres or other rooms.

Whereas traditional cleaning methods kill just 50% of the bugs responsible for HAIs, the THOR UVC works by using UV-C light effectively target bacteria.

Unlike previous machines that utilised UV-C light, the THOR UVC generates more of this light than predecessors and can deliver it more accurately.

The robot starts by assessing the room or space and then adjusts its height so that it can deliver the targeted light stream. It reaches all areas of the room, including on top of equipment and traditionally difficult areas such as vents or areas in shadow.

The results are a proven reduction in HAIs by up to 37%.

The THOR UVC, as with all Finsen Tech products, has full regulatory approval and has been tested to the highest international standards. It is a solution to the rise of superbugs that is being used in the UK as well as Europe, Asia and the United Arab Emirates.

If you would like to give us a call to discuss the THOR UVC, please get in touch on +44 (0) 207 193 5641 (for the UK and Europe), with global contact details available via this link.

Cutting Edge Room Disinfection System

Using the THOR UVC allows healthcare providers to bring a degree of automation to room disinfection, while also introducing confidence that pathogens such as MRSA, C. Diff, MRSA, Ebola and Norovirus have been eliminated.

The robot is operated via a simple tablet application. The unit is wheeled into the space to be cleaned and then operated from outside.

THOR UVC then carries out its assessment of the space to be cleaned, before adjusting its height and delivering the required dosage of UV light.

A full report can be sent through and any systems updated to show that the room is now disinfected and operational again, meanwhile THOR UVC can already be on to its next job.

The system also has safety checks in place, if someone enters the room mid clean, the process is immediately shut down.

Of THOR UVC, Bob Darby, Director of Infection Prevention & Control at Circle Health who run hospitals and other NHS services in the UK, said: “(We) evaluated THOR UVC® performance in Operating Theatres and other clinical environments and we were extremely impressed with the results achieved.

“In my opinion, the use of UV-C can be a valuable aid in this as it can; when used correctly reduce bio-burden in difficult to contact areas and will not lead to increased resistance.

A complete approach to disinfection

The THOR UVC, designed to be the market-leading room disinfection system, is complemented by the Nanoclave Cabinet.

The Nanoclave Cabinet disinfects all electronics and non-invasive pieces of medical equipment via a simple process - the equipment is placed inside the unit and then the cleaning cycle run.

Pathogens are killed inside 60 seconds, by using this cabinet in conjunction with the THOR UVC any health care provider can have confidence that both the rooms and also any equipment are completely disinfected.

Unlike other cleaning cabinets, the use of UV-C light technology makes it suitable for sensitive equipment.
