‘THOR UVC CAN HELP HOSPITALS IN FIGHT AGAINST COVID’ – Research
Many hospitals globally are struggling with sufficient and, in some cases, even routine supplies of vital Personal Protection Equipment (PPE) during the current COVID-19 pandemic.
This puts healthcare workers who are trying to protect the rest of humanity at more risk of contracting COVID-19.
Zaans Medical Centre in Holland recently published a detailed white paper which may present a solution.
The paper’s findings demonstrated the effectiveness of using a UVC tower (THOR UVC ®) to terminally disinfect Filtering Facepiece Particle Respirators - FFP1 and FFP2 masks and respirators.
Results showed an impressive Log 7-8 kill on both the inner and outer surfaces of the masks tested.
Utilising THOR UVC ®, Zaans Medical Centre is currently able to process up to 2,000 masks a day, eliminating their PPE shortfall.
Their conclusion is that UVC disinfection is an effective, safe, and scalable method for reuse of surgical facemask and respirators.
